Several PC’s come with Realtek sound cards, and it can let you utilize a digital output to make audio. Digital output means that the audio devices that are connected to your PC don’t use analogue cables. 

When you use the digital output, your audio devices should be used with the correct feature to be permitted on your PC. So, if your PC doesn’t possess audio, don’t start with the assumption that there must be some problem with your PC’s hardware. Most of the time, the issue is resolved within a few minutes.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS FOR FIXING YOUR AUDIO PROBLEMS

CHANGE YOUR DEFAULT AUDIO DEVICE

In some cases, allowing the Realtek Digital Output feature is not supposed to be compulsory. If you have regular speakers connected to your PC, you can just switch to the speakers to resolve your audio issues.

If you want to do this, change your default audio device by following the steps mentioned below. 

Step 1:

 Click on Start present in the bottom left corner of your PC screen. 

Step 2:

Select the Control Panel.

Step 3:

Click on the Hardware and Sound option. You may find it difficult to find in the default Control Panel menu. If your menu has Small icons, you just need to click on the choice next to View By in the upper right corner and select Category. It will be easier for you to search. 

Step 4:

Click on Sound.

Once you tap on the Sound option, a small sound configuration popup window will be displayed. Now, move to the Playback tab in this window.

Here, you will view all of the devices that are connected to your PC and that you can configure for yourself. Just right-click on Speakers and then select Set as Default Option. If you can’t see this option, it means that your Speakers are already set as the default. In that case, just choose Enable from the same menu.

When you want to change back to high definition digital audio, just enable the Realtek Digital Output option in the same way.

SHORTCUT TIP

If you don’t want to go into the Control Panel and look for the correct features and choices, there is a shortcut that can assist you.

Just right-click on the speaker icon, which you will find on your taskbar, and then select the Playback Devices feature. The same sound configuration popup window will be opened as before. From there, you need to follow the same procedure as mentioned above. 

UPDATING YOUR COMPUTER’S AUDIO DRIVERS

If something as necessary as audio doesn’t work on your PC, there may be some problem with your drivers. 

Drivers are programs that are made for your operating system and computer hardware components. Each computer or laptop model has its drivers installed.

Mostly, people remove their drivers by mistake. Or they need to get updated. What usually happens is that people remove some of their drivers by mistake, or their drivers need updating. When that takes place, your PC most is not going to work the way it should.

So, still, you are facing problems with your computer’s audio, then you should install the correct sound drivers. This is not a difficult thing to do. 

You should follow the steps mentioned below to resolve this issue. 

Step 1:

Press Windows + R together to open the Run program. Other than that, you can open Run by clicking on the start button, typing Run in the search bar, and hit Enter.

Step 2:

Type “devmgmt.msc” in the displayed dialogue box and then press Enter.

Step 3:

Every device connected to your PC will be displayed on your screen. Now, you select the correct category. So choose Audio Inputs and Outputs or Sound, Video, and Game Controllers (based on your operating system’s version).

UPDATING DRIVERS

You can update your drivers manually by right-clicking on them one by one and selecting Update. If you want to solve your Realtek digital output issues, begin the process by updating the Realtek driver. 

UNINSTALLING AND REINSTALLING DRIVERS

You can also remove all your drivers by right-clicking on every item below. The Audio Inputs and Outputs or Sound, Video and Game Controllers and selecting Uninstall.

Once you’ve uninstalled everything under this choice, right-click on the parent tab and choose Scan for Hardware Changes. Your PC will then search for Windows updates and install the correct drivers, including the Realtek driver. This might take time, so be patient.

In case you don’t have any drivers just right-click on Audio Inputs and Outputs / Sound, Video and Game Controllers, and tab on Scan for Hardware Changes.

Once your device has ended installing your new drivers, then reboot your PC. Everything should be ready to go when your system has been restarted.
